Located right on the edge of the Mediterranean Sea, Cyprus is a beautiful island that left me feeling completely enchanted.

Surprisingly, the country hadn’t been on my radar until I was invited to attend a friend’s wedding in Paphos - a fantastic coastal city on the south of the island.

As the fourth largest city in Cyprus and a major tourist hub, I found that Paphos is studded with archeological sites, lined with beautiful beaches and chock full of luxurious hotel resorts.

Here’s my guide to the best hotels in Paphos, ranging from five star luxury to three star budget, and everything in between.

At a glance

Best hotel for couples: Mare Paphos

Best hotel for families: Olympic Lagoon Resort

Best hotel on the beach: Annabelle Hotel

Best budget hotel: Theo Sunset Bay Hotel

Flights: To get the best deals on flights, make sure you compare options on the Omio website here.

Car hire: As driving is the easiest way to get around the island, I highly recommend that you hire a car.

Best Hotels for Couples

Paphos is the perfect location for a romantic break. Check out the Mare Paphos, a luxury costal resort with direct access to the beach. The sprawling village has five separate pools (including one which is adults only), 14 bars and restaurants, a spa and wellness facilities such as a steam bath, sauna and jacuzzi.

The rooms are luxurious with modern decor and high-end amenities. Swim up rooms are also available for those who’d like a private pool on their doorstep.

I had a look around this hotel while I was in the area and thought it was absolutely gorgeous, and plan to stay here myself one day!

For those who are on a tighter budget but still enjoy a polished feel, I personally recommend the lovely Queen’s Bay Hotel which is just next door.

This hotel is slightly older than the Mare, but has been well maintained and renovated beautifully with modern rooms, a stunning pool with sea views and delicious food in their evening restaurant.

I loved staying at this hotel, and you can read my full review here.

If you’re looking for a fantastic adults only hotel, why not try the intimate M Boutique Hotel which is designed exclusively for couples. The hotel has a large swimming pool, restaurant and rooftop bar, as well as a spa and fitness facilities.

The location is ideal, and just a short walk away to a range of bars and cultural heritage spots.

Other options include the gorgeous five star Amavi hotel, which features three stunning pools, four restaurants, a spa and fitness centre. The beach is just moments away and, as an adults only option, the hotel is childfree all year round.

Similarly, the award winning King Jason Paphos hotel offers a high-end adults only experience with beautiful pools and delicious food. Many of the rooms have self catering facilities, which sets it apart from the rest. The resort is charming and has been designed in a Greek style with quaint red tile roofs.

Best Hotels for Families

The Olympic Lagoon Resort in Paphos proves that you can still have a luxurious holiday experience while travelling with a young family! This five star hotel has supervised kids clubs for children and teens as well as fantastic entertainment during the day and in the evening.

There are five themed pools, with one inspired by the Blue Lagoon and another by a Mayan Temple, as well as a dedicated kids pool with a pirate ship and waterslides.

The resort itself is full of greenery and makes an ideal place for families to immerse themselves and enjoy a perfect Cypriot holiday.

For more waterslides, check out the Leonardo Laura Beach & Splash Resort, which has an impressive onsite water park. There’s also a splash park for little ones and various other entertainment options including an escape room, cinema and arcade.

That’s not all - children can enjoy some independence at the supervised clubs for kids and teens.

At dinner time, tuck into a meal at one of the resort’s five restaurants, with speciality dining venues including Little Italy, Za’atar Lebanese Restaurant and the Great Burger House. Daytime snacks and drinks can be found at the bars scattered throughout the complex.

If you’re after a luxurious family experience, then you’ll want to check into Elysium. This gorgeous resort offers a variety of accommodation options to fit the needs of families. These include the Family Duplex Suites, Garden Villa Suites (which have a private pool!) and Deluxe Sea View Suites.

The hotel also provides a rental service for a variety of children’s items including car seats, high chairs, buggies, sterilizers and bottle warmers.

Children aged 3 - 12 can attend the Angel’s Kids Club, and infants between 36 months and four years can spend time in Angel’s Creche. There’s also a baby sitting service, meaning that parents can enjoy some well earned alone time.

The lovely Louis Phaethon Beach hotel is another option with a waterpark and various children’s facilities including a kids club, children’s swimming pools, and a baby sitting service. The waterpark itself is an impressive 5000 square metres in size!

Finally, consider the Athena Beach Hotel. There’s plenty here to keep children occupied, with two waterslides, children’s paddling pools, and a variety of entertainment and activities for adults and children alike.

The Best Hotels on the Beach

If you’re still hunting for your ideal hotel, and love to be by the beach, then you’ll adore these hotel suggestions.

The Almyra is a luxurious five star hotel with a sandy beach right on its doorstep. You can also choose to swim in five swimming pools, relax in the spa and dine in one of their many restaurants. The brand’s sister hotel Annabelle, is actually even closer to the beach.

Overlooking the harbour and a medieval castle, the Alexander The Great Beach Hotel is located on a beautiful sandy beach, while the Leonardo Plaza Cypria Maris offers an adults only beachfront option.

The Best Budget Hotels

Finally, if you’re looking to stay at a lovely hotel on a budget, I have some great three star suggestions for you.

Holiday-goers love the Theo Sunset Bay Hotel, which offers stunning views of the coastline, clean and comfortable rooms and friendly Cypriot hospitality.

The Paphos Gardens Holiday Resort is set within lush green gardens, with two outdoor pools and a spa.

The Princessa Vera Hotel Apartments are ideal for travellers who want to be based within walking distance of the local attractions, including the Tombs of the Kings and the Medieval Castle. The Kissos Hotel is another three star option based close to the Tombs of the Kings and the Paphos Lighthouse.

Finally, check out the Basilica Holiday Resort, which is close to other Paphos attractions, the Church of Agia Kyriaki and post St. Paul.

I hope that you enjoy your trip to Paphos, and please leave a comment to let me know what you thought of these hotels!
