Viking Venus Cabin Tour and Review
(I travelled on this ship as part of a press trip with Viking Cruises, however, all opinions are my own)
Here’s a full tour of my Deluxe Veranda Stateroom onboard the Viking Venus.
When embarking on a long trip it’s important to have a clean and comfortable base to rise in each morning and return to each night.
That’s exactly what I had on my recent cruise around Southeast Asia, sailing on the lovely Viking Venus, and residing in stateroom 4035. I have fond memories of my time spent in this cabin - although I have to admit, this is the tidiest I kept it during the whole trip.
I met my lovely cabin steward shortly after embarking, and found him to be very friendly and helpful. On Viking Ocean the cabin stewards service the rooms twice a day - once in the morning and again for a turndown service in the evening. He left my room spotless and for that I was really grateful!
The room itself was located on deck four and I found it to have a modern feel, with a muted colour scheme and plenty of storage. I slept extremely well in the king size bed, which was comfy and furnished with the softest pillows and fresh linens. As I was travelling alone, I very much enjoyed starfishing in the bed each night, which can also be converted into twins for guests who would prefer not to share.
Each side of the bed was equipped with two US charging sockets and one USB point, which is something that I love to see on modern cruise ships.
A television positioned opposite the bed allowed me to manage my onboard account, make bookings, view a live map that showed our location, and watch a limited amount of live TV channels and movies. I was impressed to find that guests are also able to watch lectures and entertainment on the TV too, shortly after they’re performed on the ship.
As with the rest of the cabin, the wardrobe was roomy with plenty of drawers and coat hangers. The wardrobe lights were operated by a motion detector, and the doors opened smoothly to reveal a set of robes and slippers.
A full desk setup was provided, and the large mirror also makes a decent dressing table for applying makeup and getting ready for dinner. The mini bar can be found in the cupboard on the left and the binoculars were stored in a secret compartment inside the desk.
On the desk I had a carafe of fresh water that was changed each day, a telephone, and a kettle which my cabin steward kindly brought me upon request (I am British after all!) Here you’ll also find the quiet vox charging point, complete with headphones that you’ll need to take with you during excursions.
The en-suite bathroom felt large and spacious for a cruise ship cabin, and everything in it seemed brand new with no wear or tear to be seen. There were plenty of drawers and cupboards to hold my various nicknacks, and the complementary Freyja toiletries were refreshed each day.
The last area of my stateroom to show you is the balcony, also known as a Private Veranda. I loved having my own little space to enjoy the sun and watch the world go by - particularly on sea days, when I could listen to the crash of the waves and enjoy the sea breeze. A light is provided should you wish to use the balcony at night, and each of the stateroom balconies in this class are furnished with two chairs and a table. One of my sea day top tips is to order a room service breakfast and enjoy it on your own personal veranda.
What’s the difference between a Veranda Stateroom and a Deluxe Veranda Stateroom on Viking Ocean Cruises?
Unlike a lot of mainstream cruise lines, all of the cabins onboard the Viking Ocean ships have their own balconies, and are provided on an all inclusive basis.
As I was staying in a Deluxe Veranda Stateroom, I had access to a number of additional benefits including soft drinks and snacks in my mini bar that were refilled each day, earlier access to my stateroom on embarkation day, my very own binoculars and a coffee machine. Other extras included priority restaurant reservations and early access to spa and excursion bookings.
The actual size and layout of the two cabin classes are the same, measuring at 270 square feet.
It’s easy to tell that I absolutely adored my cabin onboard the Viking Venus. I had plenty of space, lots of storage, and the bed was super comfortable. I was impressed by the quality of my stateroom and the service provided definitely gave a premium feel.
Thank you again to Viking for hosting me on such an incredible trip!
